The Belarusian went past the milestones set by Steffi Graf, Martina Hingis, and Novak Djokovic.
In the semifinals, the Belarusian defeated Jessica Pegula of the USA 7-5, 6-2, claiming a dominant straight-sets win over the world number three. Sabalenka successfully capitalized on her opponent’s second serve and delivered an excellent final set, staying in complete control of the situation. The Belarusian will face Elena Rybakina in the final on Saturday, 12 September.
Aryna Sabalenka has made it to her fourth straight US Open final: after losing to Coco Gauff in 2023, she bounced back to defeat fellow Americans Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova in the following two championship matches.
Aryna is the first tennis player (male or female) in the Open Era (since 1968) to reach eight consecutive hard-court Grand Slam finals. By doing so, she broke the records of the legendary Steffi Graf, Martina Hingis, and Novak Djokovic, all of whom had reached seven consecutive finals of this kind. Graf achieved this milestone at the US Open (1987–1990), Hingis at the Australian Open (1997–2000), and Djokovic at the US Open (2010–2013).
