Vytoki festival: A family holiday in Baranovichi

The sports and cultural festival Vytoki is running in Brest Oblast this season. On this weekend the holiday was hosted by Baranovichi, one of the largest regional centers of Belarus. The city, a large railway junction, has a well-developed sports infrastructure, cultural facilities and a rich heritage, which is what the festival focuses on.

In Baranovichi, the main site of the festival was the central square of the city. a lot of participants gathered in the square for the Olympic guest long before it started.
The second day began with a ceremony to lay flowers to the monument to pilots Andrei Nichiporchik and Nikita Kukonenko.

President of the NOC of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko paid tribute to the fallen heroes.

Together with the head of the NOC of Belarus, the ceremony was also attended by senior officials of Brest Oblast, the Sport and Tourism Ministry, the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus and the city of Baranovichi.

Before the opening ceremony, Viktor Lukashenko toured the city's sports facilities and visited the city’s field hockey, volleyball and athletics schools, the Baranovichi football club, the ice arena, and the trade union gymnastics and boxing school.

On a sunny day, the start of the Olympic race on the main square of the city was given by Andrei Bahdanovich, the canoeing champion of the Beijing Olympic Games.

During the opening ceremony of the festival, President of the NOC of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko presented the city with a certificate for Br100,000 for the development of sports.

Viktor Lukashenko expressed confidence that the money will help the city to significantly improve its sports infrastructure. The head of the NOC of Belarus also noted that the Vytoki holiday is a collective effort (both of the organizers and also the participants).

“As you know, all railways lead to Baranovichi. So our festival locomotive has arrived to your city. We are making this holiday together," said the head of the NOC of Belarus.

“The level of the festival is growing. Sport is associated with health, and our region has a good infrastructure. At Vytoki, everyone can prove themselves and, perhaps, in the future, become an Olympic champion.”

Our region has everything necessary for that, including stadiums, ice rinks, riding halls, and swimming pools,” Brest Oblast Governor Yuri Shuleiko said.

“This season Vytoki has many novelties both in the sport and cultural programs. Among the new things are a new intellectual and educational project Vytoki. Quiz and the new location ‘Games of our Courtyard’. Everyone can find something to their liking at the festival. Vytoki has become a truly family-type event,” Valentina Dynich, Director of the Belarusian company BelBrandAudit, said. “We have a mini theater festival here now. Each performance reveals our important values. New workshops held as part of the cultural program unite both young and old.”

Many outstanding athletes attended Vytoki in Baranovichi. Each of them was pleasantly surprised with the scale of the event. “The rhythmic gymnastics team are taking part in the festival as coaches for the first time. Here we are sharing our experience and talking about our sport,” Arina Tsitsilina, a medalist of the world championships, said.

“Vytoki is a very popular festival,” said Kirill Maskevich, the winner of the World Greco-Roman wrestling Cup.

“It is great that parents bring children on our wrestling site. Children carry out tasks, and I act as a sparring partner,” the eminent wrestler said.

The entertainment program of the festival continued with the presentation of the clothing collections Rodnae Modnae of Belarusian enterprises, designers and entrepreneurs on 3 June.

The models on the main stage were replaced by the best young singers. The winners of the singing competition received diplomas and prizes, and also an opportunity to take part in clinics held by the country’s leading singers.

The art band Kasha won the competition of young singers. The second place went to Maksim Timakov, the third - to Daria Rudko. The festival wrapped up with an evening gala concert featuring popular Belarusian singers. The program of the festival also included spectacular fireworks and a disco.
