Two medals from 2026 European Modern Pentathlon Championship

Belarusian Anastasia Arol became the silver medalist of the 2026 European Modern Pentathlon Championship in Istanbul, Turkey.

After three program events (fencing, obstacle course, and swimming), Arol had the best total score, beating Ilke Ozjuskel by two points. On the final fifth shooting stage, the girls came together; the Turk handled the shooting faster and on the last lap of the laser-run distance held the advantage. The Belarusian finished second, five seconds behind, and Hungarian Blanka Guzi closed out the podium.

Anastasia brought her team the first individual medal of the continental forum since 2019.

– Everything went wonderfully, I felt good. The start was a bit delayed, but that only added a pleasant jitters. The fencing turned out simply magnificent, I didn't even expect such a result. On the obstacle course I improved my time from the semi-finals. Swimming – my event, I did it excellently. In the run I already had to endure a bit, – said Arol.

Also, based on the results of the individual final, the medalists in the women's team championship were determined. The Belarusian team consisting of Anastasia Orjol, Maria Gnedchik and Violetta Gureeva won bronze medals. The girls scored 4313 points. First place went to Hungary, second – to Switzerland.

The President of the Belarusian National Olympic Committee congratulated the modern pentathlon team on winning medals at the European Championship.

Viktor Lukashenko noted the solid preparation, endurance and determination of the athletes, who managed to climb the podium of the continental tournament in Istanbul, Turkey. He wished the Belarusian "knights of the five qualities" health, success and new bright achievements.
