Three Belarusian tennis players will go to Rio 2016

On June 29, the ITF has announced the list of singles and doubles tennis players who will perform at Rio 206. According to the information published on the ITF website, Victoria Azarenka will compete in Women’s singles, Maxim Mirnyi and Alexander Buryi – in Men’s doubles.

Mirnyi and Buryi will take part in doubles due to the ITF requirements of final qualifications distribution.
The Olympic tennis tournament will be held in Barra Olympic Park from 6 to 14 of August, with athletes from 51 countries involved.
64 players will compete in Men’s and Women’s singles, 32 pairs will contend for the Olympic medals in doubles. The draw procedure will take place in the Olympic Tennis Center of Rio at 11 a.m. on August 5.
The Center includes 16 courts, 6 of them are intended for training. The central stand has capacity of 10.000 spectators; two more stands can accommodate 5.000 and 3.000 spectators respectively. Other courts’ stands can place up to 250 visitors.
Andy Murrey (GB) and Serena Williams (US) will uphold their titles of the Olympic Champions 2012 in singles, Bob and Mike Brayan (US) and Venus and Serena Williams (US) – in doubles. Enrolment for Mixed doubles will be effectuated in the course Olympic tennis tournament.

It is a reminder that Maxim Mirnyi and Victoria Azarenkф became the Olympic champions in mixed doubles at the Olympics 2012 in London. Azarenkф also coped to obtain a bronze medal in singles.
