Courses for cross-country skiing coaches took place in Minsk within the framework of the Olympic Solidarity Programme, NOC Belarus reports.

The courses were organized by NOC Belarus, Belarus Ski Union, and the Institute of staff-retraining and qualification upgrading of executives and specialists in physical culture, sports and tourism of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture.

The training was carried out within the framework of the Olympic Solidarity Programme of International Olympic Committee. The classes were held in Belarus State University and included qualification upgrading course for coaches.

The course was divided into 2 stages: first, students got acquainted with the up-to-date methods of organizing the training process, and then they consolidated their knowledge during the practical training in sports facilities of Belarus State University of Physical Culture.

When handing IOC diplomas, Anatoly Kotov, Secretary General of NOC Belarus, noted that National Olympic Committee has always supported, and will continue to support any initiatives aimed at professional development of coaches and specialists in different sports.

“OLYMPIC SOLIDARITY”.

The IOC Programme on the coordination of National Olympic Committees’ activities and assistance in the development of the Olympic movement. The vectors of aid are numerous: conducting technical courses, paying scholarships to athletes and coaches, providing sports equipment, compensating the costs of participation in the Olympic Games etc.

In 1973, IOC established the Olympic Solidarity Programme’s special fund in order to assist National Olympic Committees in their practice (1/3 of the funds received from broadcasters for airing the Olympic competitions). The funds shall be used to organize various courses and workshops (international, continental, regional, national) on training coaches and executives for NOCs (students receive special scholarships); to relegate coaches and other specialists in the field of physical culture and sports to developing countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America for providing practical assistance to NOCs; to publish sports and methodical, informative and other special literature and documentation.

Technical courses for coaches

Purpose

The main goal of the programme is to provide technical training to officially recognized coaches through courses conducted with the assistance of invited experts.

Description

Experts approved or appointed by the relevant international federation, will be invited to all the courses. On average, the courses last from 10 to 15 days and must be conducted according to the rules established for such courses by the international federation, relating to the number of participants and hours of theoretical and practical training, final assessment method, certification, etc.
