Olympic New Year for future champions

The traditional festivity “Olympic New Year” took place in the NOC Belarus headquarters on December 16.

It is an annual celebration established for kids of the Olympic champions, coaches, veterans of sports, medalists, and famous journalists. “Olympic New Year” is a joint project of the NOC Belarus, Mass Media Commission, and Belarusian Sports Press Association. More than 250 kids of 3-12 years were invited this time.

With reference to the republican action “Our children”, the event was attended by children of the social and pedagogic centre with orphanage of the Minsk Central District. The children had a talk with Olympic champion Yanina Karolchik who narrated them about her sports career and wished their dreams came true in 2017.

Among guests there were Olympic champions Yanina Karolchik, Antonina Koshel, Sergey Makarenko, Nikolai Alekhin, Boris Koretsky, Dmitri Dovgalyonok, Tatyana Ledovskaya, Aliaksei Abalmasau, Olympic medalists Vasily Kaptyukh, Alina Tumilovich, Yelena Mikulich, Natalya Sazanovich, Michail Siamionau, champion of the Eurogames Stsiapan Papou, medalist of the Eurogames Andrei Kazusenak, World and European medalist Svetlana Rudalova, head coach of the basketball team Nataliya Trafimava, etc.

The Smurfs, Father Frost, Snow Maiden, fictional characters, quests, dances, and song were the true decoration of the staged performance.

First Vice President of the NOC Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov and Minister of Sports and Tourism Alexander Shamko were also presenting there.

At the end of the play children were gifted with special sweet bounties.
