The men medaled in the sprint (7.5 km):

28. Kiryl Tsiuryn - 21:23.2 (+2:21.7).

At the start line, I was aiming at competing for a place in the top three, or being somewhere close to it. I am pleased with the shooting in the standing position, but I am not satisfied with my finish. The eighth place is a good result, but I think this is just the beginning. I tried very hard and I will do my best in the future to make Belarusian fans happy - said Aliaksandr Matskevich to www.noc.by. - Last year, I took part in the Junior World Championships and I was not satisfied with the result, but it was a good competition experience for me that helped me here. I really like the Youth Olympic Games. We communicate with athletes from various countries, discuss biathlon and talk about everyday topics. You can feel real Olympic spirit here and it inspires to do well at the Winter Olympic Games. The stadium in Lillehammer left a good impression on me, but our home arena in Raubichi is better. I dream of the day when all my foreign friends come to Belarus to compete.
The women medaled in the sprint (6 km):
23. Darya Iyeropes - 20:04.1 (+1:40.6).
34. Natallia Karnitskaya - 21:02.7 (+2:39.2).

The medals were claimed by: 1. Juliane Fruehwirt (Germany) - 18:23.5, 2. Marthe Krakstad Johansen (Norway) - 18:29.1 (+5.6), 3. Arina Pantova (Kazakhstan) - 18:40.6 (+17.1).
