The 19th General Assembly of the European Sailing Federation (EUROSAF) was held in our country for the first time. The event was held from 15 to 17 April 2016 at the headquarters of the NOC Belarus together with the Belarusian Sailing Federation as one of the organizers of this event.

The President of the European Sailing Federation Marco Predieri attended the meetings. The representative of the International Sailing Federation Timothy Cross, the President of the Asian Sailing Federation Malav Shroff, as well as the heads and representatives of national federations from more than 25 countries of Europe arrived in Minsk to work in the forum.

The Secretary General of the NOC Belarus Anatol Kotau, the Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism Alexander Dubkovsky, the Chairman of the Belarusian Sailing Federation Igor Rachkovsky saluted the participants and guests of the General Assembly.

During the work of the Assembly, the members have been discussing the most topical issues concerning the work of the federations, their interaction, development and cooperation strategy for promotion of sailing.

One of the items on the agenda was listed the election of the President and two Vice-presidents. Marco Predieri was reelected President for the next 4 years.

Tatiana Drozdovskaya, who is the best athlete in the class “Laser Radial” in Belarus, champion of the World and European Championships, prizewinner and winner of the World Cup, two-time winner of the European Cup, and multiple champion of Belarus in sailing greeted the delegates.

In addition, the forum also included the meetings of the working groups.

EUROSAF is a public, non-profit sports federation registered in Switzerland. Today the EUROSAF membership includes Sailing Federations from 41 European countries.
This organization strives to coordinate and develop the sport of sailing through an exchange of information and facilitating decisions on matters of mutually agreed common interest.
EUROSAF has the following main objectives:
- promotion of sailing, and an exchange of knowledge and experiences, with the national sailing federations of all European nations.
- promotion of the coordination and unification of policies for the sport, including those for European championships and other international competitions.
- support of training programs for professionals.
- promotion of exchange programmes and training camps for youth.
- establishing links with organisations which represent the sport of sailing or parts of it in the European Union.
