Tatsiana Khaladovich won the first gold medal for the Belarusian athletics team at the European Athletics Championships.

With the second throw made, Belarus' javelin thrower Tatsiana Khaladovich set a new national record in Javelin Throw (66.34m). At the European Championships qualifying she was 8th with 65.10m. However, at the Final's first try she managed to throw her javelin at 61.82m. Tatsiana's next attempt was the most successful not only for Belarusian Javelin Throw, but for the entire Championships 2016 - a new national record of 66.34m set. Her rivals' results were far from Belarus', with German silver medalist Linda Stahl's 65.25m and Croatian bronze medalist Sara Kolak's 63.50m.

Czech famous athlete Barbora Spotakova was the most promising at the qualifying, still her Final's result was less effective - 62.66m (5th). Tatsiana Khaladovich commented on her performance: "I'm glad to have shown such a good result. However, I could have thrown much better. It was a good training for the XXXI Olympiad in Rio 2016, and we will try our best there".

It's the second Belarus' medal at the European Athletics Championships after Alina Talay's silver one in 100m Hurdles Final. In overall medal standings Belarus shares her 8th place with Belgium. They both have two medals: a gold and a silver. Turkey occupies the leading positions, with four gold, for silver and one bronze medals. 

On the final day of the Championships Belarusian fans are looking forward to the Ivan Tsikhan's performance in Hammer Throw. Belarus 5 will broadcast live the closing day of the European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam.
