Road to Rio 2016. Presentation of apparel for Belarusian National Olympic team

Today, on June 27, there in the Hall of Olympic Glory of the NOC were presented ceremonial and sports uniforms of the Belarusian sports delegation at the XXXI Summer Olympics Rio 2016, - informs the press center of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

The National Olympic Committee in cooperation with The Ministry of Sports and Tourism have worked on design of the dress and sports uniform for the Belarusian National team at the XXXI Summer Olympics Rio 2016.

Today, the uniforms were represented on a makeshift podium by Olympic champion in canoeing Aliaksandr Bahdanovich, numerous winners of World and European Championships in rhythmic gymnastics Melitina Stanyouta and Katsiaryna Halkina, as well as the winner of the European Games in Baku in group competitions. Among the models there presented EuroGames medalists, multiple winners of the World and European championships in Women's wrestling Vasilisa Marzaliuk and Maryia Mamashuk, the World Junior champion in high jump Andrei Churyla, winner of the first Youth Olympic Games in hammer throwing Elena Soboleva. Our synchronized swimming duet (Iryna Limanouskaya and Veronica Yesipovich) won the license to participate in the Olympics in Rio. The leaders of weightlifting team headed by the World champion Vadzim Straltsou also tried the sportswear. Silver medalist of the European Championship in springboard diving YAUHENI KARALIOU and European champion in judo Dzmitry Shershan also took part in the presentation.

Uniforms were chosen from the collections of young Belarusian designers - Ivan Ayplatov and Julia Latushkina.

Ivan Ayplatov designed his collection together with Bellegprom Concern. 

Dress uniforms set consists of jackets made of knitted fabric produced by "Polesie" with jacquard weave based on the Belarusian ornament. Costumes decoratings and elements of traditional embroidery emphasize national identity. The text of the National Anthem the Republic of Belarus is printed at the lining near the heart; its design and level of production allow to wear the apparel to feel comfortable in busy rhythm of city life. Today, the most popular set is the collection with bomber jackets.

Julia Latushkina presented two collections. The first is called “Blue-Eyed Belarus. Cornflower”.

The blue color symbolizes the national treasure of the country - rivers and lakes. The ornamental pattern is based on a stylized cornflower. Embroidery reflects traditional national drawings. Fabrics for uniforms were produced in Belarus. The collection includes two sets: the dress uniform set designed for the Olympic opening ceremony and the formal set for leisure activities.

The second collection of Julia Latushkina is called “Sports Belarus. Power of Victories”.

The basic idea of the design implies the usage of the main three colors associated with Belarus:

White – the color of the national costumes;

Red –the color of the Olympic flame and the Sun as a symbol of life;

Grey – flax color.

The main element of the collection is a stylized cornflower, which is used by our weavers in production of the traditional towels. The pattern is a symbol of soil fertility, well-being, strength and purity that fully reflect the national character of the Belarusians.

Shoes –the so-called leather slip-ons made in Belarus by «Marko».

The set of stylized accessories includes: leather bags (men, women) by "Galanteya", suit bag, umbrellas, notebooks, pens, cosmetic bag, phone case, water bottle, tea mug and keychain. 

Modern materials and technologies were used to take full account of the athletes’ physical parameters, fashion trends, and the climatic conditions of Brazil as well as capability to combine items together to let athletes maintain their national image as the participants of the official ceremonies and in everyday life.

Dress uniform, shoes and accessories were designed in the same unique style that would help our team to look gloriously at the Opening Ceremony, official events, in the Olympic Village, and become a recognizable brand in the sports community.

Upon the instructions of the President of Belarus, all collections will be on sale in stores.

The costumes are made of natural fabric and textile fabric "Svitanok”. Further tailoring was effectuated by the Chief Economic Administration.

The collection of sports equipment “Rio 2016” was made according to the latest trends in modern global fashion by Lithuanian company “Audimas” with the help of capacities of Lida facilities.

Basic colors of the equipment are associated with Belarus, its National emblem and Flag according to the designer concept.

The collection possesses graphic motives of the national ornament, which is interlaced with cheerful and energetic rhythms of Rio. Modern materials and technologies implemented in the course of production of the collection correspond to the feedbacks and suggestions of the athletes, as well as the climate of Brazil.

Materials of new generation and seamless technique were used in manufacturing of the equipment.

Ergonomic trainers Asics from the collection 2016 were chosen for the athletes.

Each of the sportsmen will be equipped with 23 outfit items. This uniform looks respectable at the awarding ceremonies, training and leisure activities. Everything was done in order to provide maximum comfort and protection for the athletes amid any local weather conditions.
