NOC president: SKA keeps handball traditions, trains talented youth

HC SKA Minsk keeps handball traditions and trains talented youth, President of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko said at a ceremony to honor the legendary handball club celebrating its 45th anniversary.

“Thanks to HC SKA Minsk, handball continues its development in the country. The club has rich traditions, which are carefully preserved, and, I hope, the young players will make their fans happy with numerous victories in the future. Your team is an example to follow for team sports, and not only for them. I would like to wish you and your families strong health and long life. Make us happy with your success on the court, and we are ready to do everything possible to contribute to more victories for the Belarusian handball,” Viktor Lukashenko said.

The handball club received a badge of honor of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus “For Services in the Development of the Olympic Movement in the Republic of Belarus”.

Many famous athletes and heads of the sport sector came to extend anniversary greetings to the famous club.

HC SKA Minsk was founded in 1976. Thanks to the efforts of the coaching staff headed by Spartak Mironovich, there are eight Olympic champions on the team. SKA Minsk is a three-time winner of the Champions Cup (1987, 1989, 1990), two-time winner of the EHF Cup Winners' Cup (1983, 1988), the winner of the Super C up, a six-time champion of the USSR, and a ten-time champion of Belarus.
