One of the Belarus’ most effective handball players Siarhei Rutenka quits sports, according to his announcement at the press conference in the NOC Belarus headquarters.

His decision owes to intention to focus on a project, which no way connected with sports. “I am eager to share my experience if needed. Now I am about to set up a business having nothing to do with sports and yet keep in contact with the BHF and national team”, he noted.

He break into sports as a member of the national junior team in 2000, when they became silver medalists of the EuroChamp. Then, he played for Slovenian clubs “Gorenje” and “Celje”, Spanish “Ciudad Real” and “Barcelona”. Rutenka is a six-time winner of the League of Champions and holder of the World best left midfielder’s title in 2013.
