As noted by Majidov, Belarusian athletes showed a bright fight at the World CUP in Rome

Belarusian athletes showed a bright fight at the European championship in Rome. This opinion was expressed by the Chairman of the Belarusian wrestling Federation Kamandar Madzhidov.

The message reads, in part:

"It's good when you expect less and get more. Belarusian athletes in all types of wrestling (Greco-Roman, Freestyle) showed a good result at the continental forum in Rome. This means that the coaching staff is doing the right job. It's great that young athletes have proven their best side. By the next Olympic cycle, we will gradually include them to the first team".

The Head of the Wrestling Federation noted the young coach of the BFW team, Ivan Yankovsky, who recently headed the national team. Kamandar Madzhidov also expressed gratitude to former head coach Aliaksandr Lasitsa.

The Head of the Federation added: "Now Belarusian wrestlers come to the training camp in "Stayki". Preparations for the main start of the quadrennial year are proceeding according to plan, and we are aiming for high results in Olympic qualification tournaments. At the moment, we have two licenses For the Games in Tokyo. In March, Budapest will host the world tournament. In April, the continental competitions will be held in Sofia.

The Belarusian team won eight awards at the 2020 European championship in Rome. Greco-Roman wrestler Maksim Nehoda (weight category 63 kg), freestyle wrestler Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov (79 kg) and women's wrestling representative Vanesa Kaladzinskaya (53 kg) placed to the highest step of the podium. Freestyle wrestlers Rasul Tsikhayeu (86 kg), Amarhajy Mahamedau (92 kg) were the third, and Nyurgun Srkyabin (65 kg) got the silver. Kseniya Stankevich (50 kg) and Iryna Kurachkina (57 kg) placed to the third step of the podium.
