YOG-2016. Day 6, February 17. The results.

According to the press service of the NOC, the sixth day of competition at the Winter Youth Olympic Games takes place today, February 17. Today, Yauheniya Varabyova of Belarus came in 4th in Mixed NOC Team Sprint.

Speed Skating: Mixed NOC Team Sprint

The sprint final took place today. Mixed NOC teams competed in the tournament. Each team had 2 men and 2 women. Thirteen teams competed for medals (one was disqualified, one did not finish).

The best team with a Belarusian athlete as a part of it was team 12 for which Yauheniya Varabyova performed. The team set a new Youth Olympic record finishing in 1.58.95. However, the record was broken by top 3 teams: 1.1:57.85, 2. 1:58.80, 3. 1:58.87.

Team 5 could not compete for medals because of the fall of Yevgeny Bolgov of Belarus. Our athlete completed the fourth leg but the team took the 11th place.

Our speed skaters will compete in the mass start on February 19.

Biathlon: Single Mixed Relay

National teams (1 man and 1 woman) took part in the single mixed relay. Natallia Karnitskaya and Kiryl Tsiuryn represented Belarus. They came in 14th – 45:06.5.

The medals were claimed by: 1. People's Republic of China (41:35.4), 2. Norway (41:35:6), 3. Russia (41:50:3).

Biathletes will compete in the mixed relay on February 21.

Alpine Skiing: Giant Slalom

Uladzislau Chertsin of Belarus took the 37th place out of 60 competitors after two runs.

The medals were captured by: 1. River Radamus (USA), Yohei Koyama, 3. Anton Grammel (Germany).
