On December 19, the Women and Sport Commission organized its first large-scale event in the NOC Belarus headquarters.

Guests could see outstanding Belarusian athletes, including Liubou Charkashina, Melitina Staniouta, Marharyta Makhneva, Katsiaryna Halkina, Maryna Arzamasava, Natallia Marchanka in their new representation. They took part in Iryna Boitsik’s charity fashion show as models.



The event was arranged for the purposes of fundraising to help Tatiana Ogryzko, the world champion in rhythmic gymnastics and mother of two children. She’s been combating cancer for 6 years, and now her close people are seeking for money on the Internet to deliver her to a foreign special clinic. Apart from Boitsik, two more fashion designers Max Mironov and Mila Ignatik placed their lots on auction on www.kufar.by to raise money for Tatiana’s treatment abroad.
The evening got remarkable due to warmest words of admiration and gratitude, which were addressed to women, who contributed to sports development in Belarus and outside. In the past, Marina Lobatch (rhythmic gymnastics) and Ellina Zvereva (athletics) ran the Women and Sport Commission. First Vice President of the NOC Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov bestowed special prizes upon the honorary guests.
"Women and Sports" is a joint TV-project of Belarus 5 and Women and Sport Commission of the NOC Belarus.
Every 26-minute episode of the project narrates the biography of outstanding Belaruian female athletes from the very beginning of their sports career.
Moreover, the creators of the project unveil private life of the guests and their environment. "Women and Sports" introduces Belarusian sports celebrities as common people with their own bittersweets of daily life, ups and downs, dreams and goals.

11 stories, 11 heroes, 11 talented athletes. Today, there in the Hall of Olympic Fame, Women and Sport Commission’s Chief Commissioner Liubou Charkashina presented gifts to Olympic champion in freestyle skiing Alla Tsuper, Olympic bronze medalist and EuroGames’ champion Maryna Litvinchuk, world champion Maryna Arzamasava, Paralympic champion Lyudmila Volchek, winner of the London Marathon Volha Mazuronak, and world and European champion and medalist in rhythmic gymnastics Melitina Staniouta.
Special thanks were addressed to initiator of the TV-project "Women and Sport" Hanna Eismant.

Among men, journalist Sergey Schurko was also honoured with a gift for his contribution to the project’s development.

Finally, Liubou thanked Maxim Ryzhenkov for understanding and assistance in holding such events.

The performance ended with a song by Yuri Vaschuk, widely known as Teo, who had represented Belarus at Eurovision 2014.
