Seventy-four torchbearers took part in the final stage of the torch relay ahead of the 8th Children of Asia Games in Russia’s Yakutsk. They included Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolayev, President of the Russian
Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov, President of the Children of Asia International Committee Vladimir Maksimov, Secretary General of the NOC of Belarus, two-time Olympic medalist in rhythmic gymnastics Kseniya Sankovich, as well as famous athletes.
The torch relay started on 20 March from Khangalassky District, the homeland of the founder of the Children of Asia Games, the first President of the Republic of Sakha Mikhail Nikolayev. Lit 100 days before the start of the Games at the foot of the Lena Pillars, the torch traveled almost 37,000 km. It was carried by more than 500 torchbearers and accompanied by more than 900 volunteers.
The torch relay finished on 26 June, at the opening ceremony of the Games at the Tuymaada Stadium. A reminder, the Children of Asia Games are running in Yakutsk from 25 June to 7 July. Belarus sent over 140 athletes under the age of 16 to the Games.
