Skvartsova sets Belarus’ new record in triple jump in Sochi

Viyaleta Skvartsova has won a convincing victory in the triple jump event at the Russian Team Championships.

In her sixth attempt, the Belarusian athlete jumped 14.85m to set a personal and national record (the previous record of 14.76m was set by Kseniya Dziatsuk in May 2012). Russia’s Darya Nidbaykina placed second with 14.27m; bronze went to another Russian Ekaterina Koneva who jumped 14.24m.

Earlier, Belarusian Aliona Dubitskaya won the shot put event with 18.62m. Belarusian athlete Alena Trus took silver with 17.90m.
