Sabalenka defends Australian Open title

Belarus’ world number two Aryna Sabalenka retained her title with a dominant 6-3 6-2 win over Zheng Qinwen of China in the Australian Open final.

The deciding game came in the second set with the score 3-1, which the Belarusian won on the opponent's serve.

 

“My team worked really hard. This time I did better. Without you, guys, I would have never reached such results.

I never speak about my family in these speeches. I hope my loved ones will understand what I am going to say in English. I love you very much. You are my biggest motivation. All my victories are for you!” she said.

Thanks to her success in Melbourne, Aryna Sabalenka remained world number two and repeated Victoria Azarenka’s achievement, who won the Australian Open in 2012 and 2013. Congratulations!
