
The Belarusian delegation has taken part in the official Opening Ceremony of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.

The record number of 92 national Olympic teams marched in step with music through the Olympic Stadium, with the Greece athletes spearheading the parade and unified Korean team at the end.

39 Belarusian athletes, coaches and specialists got involved in the solemn procession. Olympic champion in freestyle Alla Tsuper was bearing the state flag of the Republic of Belarus.
President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in declared the Games open and wished good luck to all the participants of the Olympiad.
In his speech IOC President Thomas Bach said “sports brings people all around the world together, and athletes can expect exclusively fair play and excellent Olympic atmosphere”. Bach thanked the organisers and volunteers for the executed work.
As a tradition, it was raised the Olympic Flag and played the Anthem, and athletes and coaches swore the Olympic oath.


In conclusion it was lit the Olympic Flame.
The Korean party promises the Games in PyeongChang will be the most tremendous in the Olympic history. South Korea was awarded the right to host it in the third attempt, and the organisers are eager to do best in order to make the Olympiad 2018 most memorable.
As a matter of fact, it is the 7th time Belarus takes part in the Winter Olympics. 32 athletes in 6 sports – alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, speed skating freestyle skiing and short track – will enter the medal fray. The team’s most titled member is three-time Olympic champion of Sochi 2014 Darya Domracheva. The most experienced Team Belarus athlete, cross-country skier Sergei Dolidovich, takes part in his 7th Olympics edition.
Throughout its sovereign history from 1994 to nowadays, Belarus has managed to conquer 15 awards: 6 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze Olympic awards.
