President of Belarus’ NOC meets with young fans of 2nd CIS Games

On 15 August, Viktor Lukashenko met with fans from the Lesnoye Ozero recuperation camp in Orsha District. The guys actively supported Belarusian boxing athletes at the 2nd CIS Games in Orsha and followed closely the boxing tournament.

During a visit to the boxing tournament at the Orsha ice arena, the head of the NOC of Belarus talked to the guys, asked about their impressions and invited them to the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus. At the NOC of Belarus the young sports fans were given a tour of the exhibition and briefed about the main achievements of Belarusian athletes.

“I think the Olympic atmosphere should have a good effect on you. Those who were previously indifferent to sport will now be more actively engaged in it. The 2nd CIS Games will also contribute to this. You could see for yourself the high level of competition, the excitement and the highs you should aspire to and also the hard work that an athlete should do to win a medal and have the flag of your country risen in his honor. Your life path is just beginning, and I hope that the Games, the museum will influence your plans. We in the NOC of Belarus are ready to host guests, your friends from schools and are always open for communication," Viktor Lukashenko said.

The children were interested in Viktor Lukashenko's childhood asking him about his attitude towards children’s summer camps, favorite sports, family traditions and whether the Vytoki festival would return to Orsha. The NOC president answered all the questions, and posed for a photo with the young fans at the end of the meeting.

“We did not get a chance to take a photo together with the NOC president in Orsha. Later we were invited to see the museum exposition. I liked the exposition on the fourth floor which showcases medals and achievements of our athletes. During our conversation with Viktor Lukashenko I liked the question about sports motivation. I showed rather good results in the shooting range in the interactive zone. We will try our best to visit the NOC of Belarus together with our classmates,” young fan Evgenia Ignatenko said.

“The children of our Lesnoye Ozero camp wanted to take a photo together with Viktor Lukashenko but failed to get this opportunity during the boxing competition. They however received an invitation to visit the NOC of Belarus. Here the children got plenty of positive emotions. They learned about the athletes of the past years, many of whom were ordinary people who never dreamed of becoming great champions. We also invited the head of the Olympic Committee to visit our camp and try his hand in different sports,” teacher Olga Grafutko said.
