Official statement of NOC Belarus regarding the decision of the IOC Disciplinary Commission

On 5 August  2021, the Disciplinary Commission of the International Olympic Committee revoked the accreditation of coaches of the Belarusian athletics team Yury Moisevich and Artur Shumak at the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo. In its statement the IOC said that it was a provisional measure and that an investigation is under way.

The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus confirms this information. The coaches will return to Minsk soon. However, they reserve the right to appeal against the decision.

We remain committed to continuing the dialogue and are working in close contact with the IOC to clarify all the circumstances of the decision.

The NOC Belarus shall continue to defend and protect the interests of all Belarusian athletes and coaches from any forms of discrimination, if any.
