NOCs of Belarus, Bahrain expand cooperation

The National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of Belarus and Bahrain have signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The parties signed the agreement during the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Bahrain. Taking part in the signing ceremony was by President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko and Head of the National Olympic Committee of Bahrain His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The agreements between the two countries envisage athletes’ participation in multi-sport tournaments conducted by both states, organization of joint training camps, mutual exchange of specialists and development programs in children's and youth sports, participation in congresses, conferences, seminars and courses, exchange of experience in the construction and maintenance of sports facilities, medicine, marketing, as well as in the organization of events.

“Our countries have a lot in common. It is important to continue to support each other, to look for points of contact for successful stable growth in all possible areas to stay stronger including beyond the international sports arena. The first steps have already been made,” Viktor Lukashenko said.

The working visit also included meetings of the NOC delegation with Secretary General of the NOC of Bahrain Faris Mustafa Al-Kooheji and Vice President of the NOC of Bahrain Sheikh Issa bin Ali Al-Khalifa, who stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and wished sustainable development and prosperity to the Belarusian sport.

The Asian colleagues were particularly interested in interaction in Belarus’ well-developed sports, such as tennis, rowing, swimming, weightlifting, wrestling and rhythmic gymnastics, and also in the possibility to promote ice hockey and speed skating in the Kingdom of Bahrain with the support of Belarusian specialists.
