Iryna Kurachkina wins silver at 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games

Iryna Kurachkina of Belarus lost to Risako Kawai of Japan in the Women’s Freestyle Wrestling 57kg final to win a silver medal. This is the third Olympic medal for Belarus in Tokyo.

So far the team won gold in Men’s Trampoline (Ivan Litvinovich) and bronze in Men’s High Jump (Maksim Nedasekau).

"We worked very hard to achieve this result. Maybe I am a bit disappointed that it is not gold. I am crying, but still... It's a success! I am grateful to my family and many, many more people who helped me on the way to this result. But there's still a lot of work ahead. Thank you all!,” Iryna Kurachkina said.

President of Belarus’ NOC Viktor Lukashenko has congratulated Iryna Kurachkina on winning a silver medal at the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo. He praised her hard work and perseverance on the way to this medal. “Winning an Olympic medal is every athlete’s dream. You have achieved this goal thanks to hard work, dedication, discipline and the help of the coaching staff.

I wish you many successes in sport, good health and wellbeing!” the message of congratulations reads.
