The organizers did their best to make the event memorable and made use of the historical downtown of the French capital on the Seine embankment for the show.
It was the first opening ceremony of the Olympic Games held outside the stadium. Paris was transformed into a sports arena and theater, and athletes arrived via boat and cruised down the Seine for the Parade of Nations.
The parade featured almost 100 boats with 10,500 athletes.
As the organizers noted, thanks to this concept, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Games was supposed to be the largest in terms of the number of spectators and their location.
The ceremony was overshadowed by rain that did not stop throughout the show.
The parade ended at Trocadero Esplanade in front of the Eiffel Tower. The site hosted the official protocol events and the 2024 Paris Games were officially declared open.
Belarus at the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris will be represented by 17 athletes competing in 10 sports: Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, road cycling, rowing, canoe sprint, swimming, trampoline, taekwondo, weightlifting and shooting.
Belarusian rowers, cyclists and swimmers will kick off the campaigns on 27 July.
