
Belarusian taekwondo athletes won gold, silver, and two bronze medals in Olympic weight categories at the European Championships in Switzerland.
Sarmat Tsakoev, representing our country, won the 68 kg category. During the tournament, Sarmat defeated Israeli Etan Genzel, Bulgarian Stefan Stamenov, Polish Mateusz Chrzanowski, and Ukrainian Vladimir Bystrov, and defeated Russian Ilya Danilov in the final.
Tsakoev, a native of Vladikavkaz, won the European Championships as part of the Russian team in 2021.
In total, Belarusian taekwondo athletes won four medals in Olympic weight categories at the European Championships (1-1-2). Yulia Vitko won silver (up to 57 kg), while Georgy Gurtsiev (up to 58 kg) and Maria Strunets (up to 49 kg) took bronze. Eleven athletes represented our team in Switzerland.
Polina Mikhalchuk excelled among the juniors, winning bronze in the U18 category.
