Four gold and one silver medals won by Belarusian swimmers in Monaco

Ilya Shymanovich beat Olympic champion Paris at the first stage of the Mare Nostrum tournament.

The first stage of the international Mare Nostrum tournament has ended in Monaco, where Belarusian swimmers won four gold and one silver award.

Ilya Shimanovich won in the 100-meter and 50-meter breaststroke. In the 100m breaststroke, the Belarusian was ahead of Italian Nicolo Martinengi (59.77) - 59.94, who is the champion of the Olympic Games in Paris (59.03). 

Alina Zmushka won gold awards in the 100 and 200 meters breaststroke. In the 100m breaststroke she swam in 1.07.10 and showed the same time as Anna Elendt from Germany.

The bronze medal went to the famous Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova. The Belarusian swimmer showed a time of 2.25.29 in the 200m. Rebecca Meder from South Africa was second.

Nastassia Shkurdai became the silver medalist in the 200m backstroke, losing only one hundredth of a second to the winner from Poland Laura Bernat.

The next stage of Mare Nostrum will be held on May 21-22 in Barcelona in the outdoor pool.
