An event featuring Olympic champions, titled Cedars of Glory, took place in the Uruchye park, near Nezavisimosti Avenue and Gorodetskaya Street on 15 November.
In the Year of Improvement, sports veterans, champions, and Olympic medalists planted cedar saplings in one of the picturesque corners of the Belarusian capital.

The event was attended by Yulia Nestsiarenka, Yauheni Tsikhantsou, Sergei Martynov, Ekaterina Karsten, Andrey Barbashinsky, Natallia Tsilinskaya, Yanina Karolchyk, Iryna Leshchanka, Leonid Taranenko, and other renowned athletes and representatives of sports organizations.
“We have many famous athletes, Olympic champions and medalists, World and European champions. This cedar alley, a symbol of strength, longevity, grandeur, and prosperity, will become one of the favorite spots for our city's residents. Future generations must remember those who brought glory to Belarus and forged victories for their homeland. Minsk is a big city with many beautiful parks, and in my opinion, such an alley should be in every district of the capital,” said Dzmitry Dauhalionak, Vice-President of the NOC of Belarus and an Olympic champion.
The event was organized by four-time Olympic champion Alexander Tikhonov, the NOC of Belarus, the Minsk City Hall, and the Belarusian public association Veterans of Physical Education and Sports.
