Popular Belarusian swimmer, double silver medalist of London 2012 and Rio 2016 bronze awardee Aliaksandra Herasimenia and her coach Elena Klimova were honored with the Honorary Medal of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus at its headquarters.

The awards were bestowed upon them out of hands of First Vice President of the NOC Belarus Andrei Astashevich.
Aliaksandra Herasimenia thanked the NOC Belarus and said it would be another stimulus to go ahead and win more medals. She has already won about 200 trophies, and this medal is at Aliaksandra’s top 10 most relevant prizes. While having a word with Andrei Astashevich, Heraimenia revealed plans for future international competitions and gave details on her Swimming Club, its development perspectives. She misses the European Championships in December due to busy schedule, but she starts trainings to get ready for the 2018 European Championships in summer. In case she succeed, Aliaksandra will make plans for the 2020 Olympiad in Tokyo.

Elena Klimova said she was tugged at the heartstrings with that medal. She promised to follow Aliaksandra if she decided to keep on competing in international starts.
The decision on awarding Aliaksandra Herasimenia and Elena Klimova was adopted at the NOC Belarus Executive Board meeting on 29 August 2017.
