In Belarus, you will see our modern sports facilities, which we hope may host major international aquatic sports competitions in the future. Your visit to our country is very important for Belarusian athletes and the entire swimming community. We need to maintain and develop dialogue and build cooperation in these challenging conditions. We welcome the decision to admit Belarusian and Russian athletes to participate in international competitions, including team sports such as water polo. We regard this decision as an important step towards restoring full-fledged participation on the international stage,” Kseniya Sankovich said during the meeting.

The secretary general conveyed greetings to the European Aquatics delegation from President of the NOC of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko, who would be pleased to meet personally with the head of the European Aquatics in the future.

“I met with the chairperson of the Belarusian Swimming Federation at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, and we agreed to develop our relations. I am here to discuss all matters related to the development of aquatic sports. I support the notion that athletes should not suffer from political decisions, and with the Belarusian side, we will consider plans for cooperation. I do not like to talk much but prefer to act more. We are ready to provide comprehensive support to your federation,” Antonio da Silva said.
