A conference of the Belarusian Tennis Federation (BTF) was held at the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus on 10 March.
The head of the public association Sergei Rutenko delivered a report on the accomplished work, and the reports of the BTF Board were also heard.
The conference elected Aleksandr Zakharchenko as the new chairman of the federation. Prior to this, he worked with Anatoly Kapsky at FC BATE Borisov and held the post of Deputy Director General – Commercial Director at the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) – the managing company of the BelavtoMAZ holding company.
“In the near future, I will delve into the affairs of the federation. I see that the main areas involve the development of tennis in the regions. The sport is on a strong footing regarding facilities and resources, yet there is a need to improve the qualifications of the coaching staff. Increasing the competitiveness of the national team members and the reserve is also among the immediate tasks I see before me.
Thanks to state support, Belarus has created a solid foundation for training tennis players at all levels, from amateur to professional. I hope that support for the sport will continue to increase, and with it, the achievements of our tennis players,” Aleksandr Zakharchenko said.
At the conference, Vice President of Belarus’ NOC Dmitry Dovgalenok noted that the past four years had been challenging for the BTF leadership. First there was the pandemic, followed by sanctions and suspension from international tournaments. However, during this challenging period, Belarusian tennis players, despite competing in a neutral status, persevered and delivered solid results at both professional and junior levels.
In recognition of his significant contribution to the advancement of the Olympic movement, grassroots sport, and high-performance sport, Director of the State Olympic Training Center for Tennis Semyon Kagan has been presented with an Honorary Certificate by the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

The meeting additionally elected an audit commission and established the size of the Board of Trustees of the Belarusian Tennis Federation. Other matters concerning the federation’s activities were considered.
