Olympic lesson - in an updated format!

On September 2, the Olympic lesson “Knowledge is power!” Was held in the NOC Hall of Olympic Glory in the form of an intellectual quiz. The 15 teams included students from grades 7-11 of Minsk schools and Belarusian athletes (one each in each team). During the draw at the very beginning of the quiz, our athletes chose a number for themselves, which determined their team. This day champions and prize-winners of the Olympic Games, World and European Championships, winners and prize-winners of the II European Games, members of national teams came to share their knowledge and talk to the children.

Questions related to the Olympic movement, Belarusian athletes and interesting cases from the lives of athletes. Most teams answered absolutely correctly to all questions in music and film tours. But the blitz decided a lot: the team “Rowers” of Maryna Litvinchuk, two-time bronze medalist of the Summer Olympic Games, multiple world champion, aliens at the final second place (31 points) precisely thanks to the final blitz round.

“Our team was amazing, friendly, we immediately met. And as the school principal told me: “When you went into the hall, I realized that you would be with us.” And in fact, I also drew attention to these beautiful children. I liked the form of the event: it’s so free, the children feel on equal terms with us, with the athletes, actively discuss and, most importantly, they want to win. Thanks to the National Olympic Committee for the invitation and for the good mood,” Maryna Litvinchuk shared her impressions.

The team “Masters” of the Olympic champion in biathlon Dinara Alimbekova scored the highest number of points (35) according to the results of the quiz.

“The format is very cool. At first I was worried, because I did not evaluate my strength at “all 100”. But when I met the team, I realized that I was lucky: the children are very smart, in some moments we were vigorously discussing the answers, somewhere we even argued. This is a new experience for me. I really enjoyed this event.

The “Leader” team, led by Olympic champion Alexander Bogdanovich, scored the same number of points with the team of Maryna Litvinchuk. But according to the rules of the quiz: with an equal number of points, preference is given to the team that scored the most points in the blitz round. Alexander and his team eventually took third place.

10-grader Matvey Ivanyushin was glad to see Dinara Alimbekova and Anton Kushnir at the event.

“At first I was upset that I didn’t get on the team with Dinara and Anton, but then I got acquainted with the goalkeeper of the national women's football team Yekaterina Kovalchuk, who led our team, and realized that we have every chance of a good game. Some questions were thought-provoking, and some were answered very quickly. Do not hit the prizes, not scary. I myself have been playing football for 10 years. Therefore, in this regard, I was also pleased to be in the same team with Catherine, ” said Matvey.

“I like the format of this year more. You can talk at one table with eminent Belarusian athletes who represent our country at international competitions, have a good laugh while discussing issues, and make friends. Well-known people came here. As for the questions, I was already on a tour of the NOC building, so somewhere it was even easy for me to answer. I think that after the event I will already remember a lot, ” said Maria Gnedchik a student of grade 10 of secondary school № 85 in Minsk.
