International Olympic Day was held in Minsk
The event was held at the Sports complex “Alimpiyski” on Surganova Street. Representatives of more than 40 sports offered all those who came on holiday to try themselves in athletics, volleyball, golf, soccer, basketball and many other disciplines.

Since the morning it’s already crowded, someone has been waiting in line for playing tennis, other guys rushed to volleyball and basketball courts, and the third watched their results after testing on a rowing machine.
The opening ceremony was attended by Acting First Vice President of the NOC Belarus Viktor Lukashenko and Minister of Sport and Tourism Sergey Kovalchuk.

“Our holiday is designed to unite people from young to old. I am sincerely glad that the celebration of the International Olympic Day in our country has become a good tradition. I wish you all good health, worthy to pass all the tests today, complete all the tasks on the sports grounds, and help adults pick up the kids a sport that they will practice and enjoy training. I wish all the participants and guests of the holiday a good mood, well-being for your families", - said Viktor Lukashenko.
During the opening ceremony has topped champions and prize-winners of the European Youth Olympic Festival, which was held in Baku in July 2019.

NOC certificates were awarded to the winners by the acting first vice-president of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko.

Minister of Sport and Tourism of Belarus Sergey Kovalchuk awarded bronze and silver medalists.
Belarusian young athletes in Baku won 14 medals (6 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze).

 Parents, along with the children, were interested in the features of the sports. Coaches talked about their sport, and many of the guys have already decided they want to go to the section.
“I tried to throw the ball into the basketball hoop, run, other competitions. I liked the most to hit the ball in the basket. We will try to get as many marks as possible and get the main prizes of the Olympic day,” - one of the participants said.

Young biathlete Marina Mikhnevich said that she began with winter sports. “First I looked at how everything is organized in biathlon, cross-country skiing, and then I tried myself at other sites. I really liked how everything was done in cross-country skiing: I worked on simulators and did coordination. Ski trainers asked what kind of sport I was doing and asked a difficult exercise to I’m able to check what she’s capable of. She coped and is very glad. 
It was not difficult for me to collect all 20 marks during the competitions", - she said.
At the site for biathlon held its own competition. There were enough people who wanted to receive prizes from Daria Domracheva, but Irina Zaitseva was the most capable.

“The daughter is interested in cycling, we are going to buy her runbikes, but we will not forget about rhythmic gymnastics. Parents are actively participating in a great holiday that children really like. I think such events will help to more widely promote a healthy lifestyle,” - said Ksenia Sankovich, silver and bronze Olympic medalist in rhythmic gymnastics.

 “Ksenia Sankovich was more interested in my platform, I tried more in different sports. Great atmosphere, interesting competitions for children. I think this format of the International Olympic Day will be interesting for children,” - said Aleksandra Narkevich, silver Olympic medalist in rhythmic gymnastics.

Annually, the representative office of the Children's Fund (UN) (UNICEF) in Belarus also participates in the International Olympic Day.

This year is special for the UNICEF representative, in 2019, UNICEF staff together with the directorate of the II European Games, the NOC of Belarus actively promoted Olympic values.

The festival was attended by sponsors and partners of the Belarusian NOC:  ACS      Belagroprombank, ACS Dana Astra, ACS Minsk Watch Factory, ACS BelATEP, Belgosstrakh, CJSC Sport-Pari, A1 service provider, Coca-Cola HBC Belarus.
Vibor Mulich, vice president of Dana Holdings, emphasized that it is a great honor for the company to take part in a sports festival. “We will always support the Olympic movement,” he added.

"International Olympic Day allows young people to get acquainted with a variety of sports. This is a unique opportunity," said Rita Pastarnakevich, a representative of Minsk Watch Factory.
