Sasnovich's Success in Beijing

Aleksandra Sasnovich reached the round of 16 of the prestigious WTA-1000 tournament in Beijing, winning four matches.

In her first round of 16 play, the Belarusian lost to Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk. The final score was 4-6, 2-6. Sasnovich served well, but was unable to cope with Kostyuk's attacks from the baseline.

The Belarusian had one of her best tournaments of the season. In qualifying, she defeated Russian tennis player Tatiana Prozorova (185) 6-4, 6-1 and American Varvara Lepchenko (147) 6-4, 6-1. In the main draw, she defeated Janice Thien and Naomi Osaka.

The competition in Beijing will conclude on October 5. The winner will earn $1.1 million and 1,000 ranking points.
