Record breaking Polina Sivets of Belarus, coached by Larisa Kazakevich, clocked 4:30.72 to secure gold in the 3,000m at the Kuzbass Ice Palace. On 26 December Belarus’ Maryna Zuyeva proved fastest in the adults’ event, clocking 4:13.43 on the track.
Well done! Polina Sivets proved her worth as the team’s captain at the Games in Kemerovo.

Belarus’ Evelina Konoplyanik finished 6th (4:51.86), Dominika Kukharchik - 13th (4:54.30), Rina Voitenkova - 25th among more than 30 athletes.
The champion’s comments:
The best speed skaters in the 1,000m were named in Kemerovo on 2 March. Dominika Kuharchik finished one step away from the podium in the girls’ event. The Belarusian was only a quarter of a second short of the bronze medal. Polina Sivets came in 14th, Evelina Konoplyanik was 13th and Kira Goncharik was 23rd. In the boys’ event Roman Chernyavsky and Fyodor Danilov finished 19th and 20th respectively, Yegor Ganchenko was 23rd.
On 3 March, the speed skating program will feature team sprints and mass start events. Following seven competition days of the Children of Asia Games Belarus goes with seven medals (one gold, three silver and three bronze).
