Yulia Tikhanova showed the best result among Belarusian cross-country skiers in sprint qualification

On February 13 the Belarusian women’s quartet of Yulia Tikhanova, Anastasia Kirillova, Polina Seronosova and Valentina Kaminskaya failed to qualify for cross-country skiing sprint semifinal.

Belarus’ best Yulia Tikhanova covered the 1,25km distance in 3:27.19min and finished 35th 18.45sec behind the leader of the qualification race, Swiss skier Stina Nilsson. Anastasia Kirillova took the 40th place (+20,24 sec), Polina Seronosova became 41st and Valentina Kaminskaya placed 47th (+24,06 sec).

«Of course, I hoped for better results and wanted to qualify for quarterfinals. It is complimentary to be one of 30 best sprint skiers. But at the Olympic Games the track is very challenging», laments Valentina Kaminskaya.

Valentina recalled her emotions when the President of the Belarus Ski Union phoned her to notify of a chance to take part in the Olympic Games in PyeongChang.

«It's impossible to say how excited I was. However, to have positive emotions is not enough for good results».
