Vitali Mikhailau was 7th of 16 athletes to have crossed the finish line in men’s mass start. The athlete completed the distance in 7:53.38 minutes and earned 1 point.
The Belarusian speed skater have mentioned he has been already competing in this discipline for 2 years.
“I advanced to the final in the same breath. During the last run I was trying to score points at certain fractions of distance. Though I achieved some of my goals, at the finish I was exhausted. Anyway, I am satisfied with my results and I know what I should work on in future", thinks Vitali.
Seung-Hoon Lee from South Korea became the Olympic champion having gained 60 scores. The second place was occupied by Bart Swings, a Belgian speed skater, with 40 scores, and the bronze medal was won by Koen Verweij of the Netherlands.
