The International Olympic Committee has announced the names of twelve athletes, who inspire the sports youth across the globe.
London 2012 bronze medalist, President of the FIG Athletes’ Commission, multiple medalist of the World and European Championships in rhythmic gymnastics Liubou Charkashyna from Belarus and other eleven top athletes have been сhosen to act as the Athletes’ Role Models (ARMs) in the capital of Argentina during the Youth Olympic Games 2018.
The role of the ARMs at the Youth Olympic Games is to act as a mentor for the young participants. They will be there to share their experience and offer advice. They will support the young athletes during training and at the competitions, as well as in the Youth Olympic Village during a series of educational activities and workshops.
All of the 12 ARMs announced today share a common desire: to give back to sport what sport has given them.
Apart from Belarus’ Liubou Charkashyna, who will mentor the younger counterparts at Buenos Aires 2018, the other eleven ARMs come from Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Portugal and Chile.
