Belarus’ wrestling stars held workshop for Olympic reserve students

Today, on 12 February, the NOC Belarus Athletes’ Commission arranged and organized the freestyle wrestling seminar in the premises of the Republican State Olympic Reserve Centre.

Many outstanding Belarusian athletes were among the guests of the event, including Olympic champions of Barcelona 1992 in canoeing Dmitri Dovgalyonok and Seoul 1988 in wrestling Greco-Roman Kamandar Madzhidov, Rio 2016 silver medalist Maryia Mamashuk, European Championship 2017 silver medalist Iryna Kurachkina, participant of Rio 2016 and master of sports Vasilisa Marzaliuk.

Theoretical part of the seminar took more than an hour as the students were eager to learn as many details from Marzaliuk, Mamashuk and Kurachkina regarding the beginning of their sports career as possible. The nuances of their diet, psychological training and most memorable victories were given the particular attention to from the students. The wrestlers were readily sharing their plans for what they would when the sports career’s over and talking about hobbies.


Belarus’ NADA representative Valentin Chernyakevich explained the younger wrestlers the procedure of doping tests. He provided rekevant information about how athletes should behave while undergoing doping tests, their rights and obligations and voiced an average number a doping tests could be taken.

Dmitri Dovgalyonok added up it with real examples based on his own experience at the Olympic Games and other sports competitions.

Then Maryia Mamashuk, Iryna Kurachkina Vasilisa Marzaliuk demonstrated some exercises and fighting techniques and explained tactics peculiarities.

Young participants of the workshop received the books “Aleksandr Medved. The Life” as gifts from NOC Belarus.

The Athletes’ Commission of NOC Belarus keeps in plan to organize such workshops in other sports.
