Milestones

22 March 1991 – NOC of Belarus was established  (Charter was accepted, V. N. Rizhenkov was elected as the President of NOC).  

09 March 1992 - NOC was acknowledged by IOC as a temporary member.  

21 September 1993 – NOC was accepted as an Official Member by IOC (decision of 101 session IOC in Monaco). 

12 - 27 February 1994 - participation in XVII Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer (Norway) (for the first time as independent team). 

33 Belarusian sportsmen participated in 7 types of sport. 

2 silver medals were won: 

I. Zhelezovsky - skating, 

S. Paramigina - biathlon. 

19 July - 04 August - Participation in Olympic Games XXVI in Atlanta 1996 (USA). 

144 Belarusian sportsmen participated in 21 types of sport. 

15 medals were won: 

1 gold: 

  • E. Khodotovich – boat racing; 

6 silver: 

  • A. Medvedev - wrestling (130 kg), 
  • A. Pavlov – Greek-Roman wrestling (48 kg), 
  • S. Lishtvan – Greek-Roman wrestling (100 kg), 
  • V. Dubrovshik -  track and field athletics (disk), 
  • N. Sazanovich - track and field athletics (heptathlon), 
  • I. Basinsky - shooting (small-calibre gun); 

8 bronze: 

  • V. Kaptuh - track and field athletics (disk), 
  • V. Scherbo - 4 medals - gymnastics (personal first place , supporting jump, parallel bars, horizontal bar), 
  • E. Zvereva - track and field athletics (disk), 
  • V. Cilent’ -  Greek-Roman wrestling (82 kg), 
  • N. Lavrinenko, A. Pankina, N. Volchek, 
  • T. Davidenko, V. Skrabatun, ?. Mikulich,

15 May 1997 – New Membership of NOC was elected 

The President of RB ?.G. Lukashenko was elected as the President of NOC.  

07 - 22 February 1998 – Participation in XVIII Winter Olympic Games in Nagano (Japan). 

59 Belarusian sportsmen participated in 9 types of sport. 

2 bronze medals were won: 

  • D. Dashinsky - freestyle, 
  • A. Aydarov - biathlon. 

15 September - 01 October - Participation in  XXYII Olympic Games in 2000 in Sidney (Australia) 

134 Belarusian sportsmen participated in 21 types of sport. 

17 medals were won: 

3 gold:  

  • H. Karsten - Khodotovich – boat racing,
  • E. Zvereva - track and field athletics (disk), 
  • Y. Karolchik - track and field athletics (shot). 

3 silver: 

  • I. Basinsky - shooting, 
  • Y. Raskina - callisthenics (all-round events),
  • T. Ananko, T. Belan, A. Glaskova, I. Ilenkova, M. Lazuk, O. Puzhevich -  callisthenics (in team). 

11 bronze: 

  • I. Astapkovich -  track and field athletics (hammer), 
  • I. Basinsky - shooting, 
  • D. Debelka – Greek-Roman wrestling(130 kg),
  • P. Dovgal - modern pentathlon, 
  • L. Evglevskaya - shooting, 
  • S. Lavrenov - weight lifting (69 kg), 
  • A. Larukov - judo (73 kg), 
  • S.Martinov - shooting, 
  • G. Oleshuk - weight lifting (62 kg),

27 March 2001 – New Membership of NOC was elected.  

08 - 24 February 2002 - Participation in XIX Winter Olympic Games in Salt-Lake City (USA) 

64 Belarusian sportsmen participated in 9 types of sport. 

1 bronze medal was won: 

  • Aleksey Grishin - freestyle. 

13 - 28 August 2004 - Participation in XXVIII Olympic Games in Athens (Greece) 

151 Belarusian sportsmen participated in 23 types of sport. 

15 medals were won: 2 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze: 

gold: 

  • Yulia Nesterenko - track and field athletics (100m) 
  • Igor Makarov - judo 

silver: 

  • Anna Batusko -  weight lifting
  • Andrey Ribakov -  weight lifting
  • Ekaterina Karsten – boat racing

25 November 2004 – New Membership of NOC was elected.  

10-26 february 2006 – Participation in XX Winter Olympic Games in Torino (Italy)

28 Belarusian sportsmen participated in 7 types of sport. 

One medal was won:

  • silver – Dmitry Dashinsky (freestyle).

08 - 24 August 2008 - Participation in XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing (China) 

181 Belarusian sportsmen participated in 26 sport disciplines.  

17 medals were won (4+4+9=17).  

gold medals:  

- Andrey Aryamnov (weight lifting)

- Oksana Menkova (track and field athletics) 

- Andrey and Alexander Bogdanovich (canoe rowing, pair-oar boat) 

- Roman Petrushenko, Vadim Mahnev, Aleksey Abalmasov, Arthur Litvinchuk (boat racing, four). 

silver medals:  

- Andrey Ribakov (weight lifting) 

- Nataliya Mikhnevich (track and field athletics, shot) 

- Andrey Kravchenko (track and field athletics, decathlon)

12-28 February 2010 – Participation in XXI Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver (Canada) 

49 Belarusian sportsmen participated in 6 types of sport. 

3 medals were won:

- gold - Aleksey Grishin (freestyle)

- silver – Sergey Novikov (biathlon)

- bronze – Dariya Domracheva (biathlon). 

9 April 2010 – New Membership of NOC was elected.  

The National Olympic Committee of Belarus have participated in 9 Olympic Games: 5 winter and 4 summer ones.

78 Belarusian sportsmen have become champions and prize winners of the games.

They won 73 Olympic medals: 11 gold, 23 silver and 39 bronze.
